"He wants to live on through something - and in his case, his masterpiece is his son." - Arthur Miller

This Sunday was Jared's first Father's Day :) And we had such a pretty day. We spent time with family, went over to Papa's pool, and had a cookout at Mom's. Jared even wore his cheesy Father's Day shirt that Holden and I got him. Because if you're ever going to wear a silly Father's Day shirt, your first is the one to do it on! It was a great day and we are very lucky to have such a beautiful and happy boy.

"Not right now, I'm watching the game" haha...

Holden adores Daddy. He just thinks he's so funny.

Babies and Laundry Baskets

From what I can tell, it seems to be the trend that babies everywhere love to sit in laundry baskets. I've seen so many photos and heard so many stories of other kids just loving to be in baskets. So today while I was folding the clothes, I dumped them out and let Holden sit in it. It's magic. He LOVED it. And he was so funny. You'd think he never got to sit anywhere so exciting and fun before. I don't get it. But I guess I don't have to. He thinks it's fun and that's good enough for me! We now have a new "toy."

Sunshine and Swimming

Since this past weekend was so beautiful, we really wanted to be outside as much as possible. So on Saturday Holden got to go "swimming" for the first time! We just filled up his little inflatable ducky bath tub and brought it outside. Holden absolutely loved it. He would have sat there all day. We even pushed it over into the shade after awhile because he was having so much fun we didn't want to make him get out yet. And it was so funny to watch him splash the water and then look at us and grin. He just thought it was the best. We will definitely be using the little ducky pool again. And now I cannot wait to take him swimming at my grandpa's in a big pool. He is just going to love Papa's!

"If we take care of the moments, the years will take care of themselves." - Maria Edgeworth

It is unbelievable to me that Holden is already six months old. I am very very blessed to be able to stay at home with him every day and have very seldom been apart from him for too long. And somehow I still feel like I blinked and he grew. I don't know how it happened, but he has gotten so big.

I mean, a part of me feels like he has always been with us. He just absolutely makes us who we are now. And he makes us a family. But part of me feels like it was just last week that we were in the hospital and I was having to tickle his toes to get him to stay awake and eat. And now he's eating cereal and bananas with a spoon!

And he is also becoming more and more mobile every day. Today, I firmly believe, he almost crawled. He was up on all fours and if he could have just gotten his hands to move as fast as his legs pushed him forward, he would have been crawling. Instead of sniffing the ground. :)

He is amazingly fun now and so full of joy and personality. But he is absolutely getting too big too fast. I need a pause button.

mmmm... Holden likes bananas
